Water Filtration and Water Softeners in Douglas County, Colorado

Crystal Peak Water is based in Parker, and Douglas County is home ground. Water here is not one supply: Parker blends Denver Basin groundwater with Rueter-Hess Reservoir water, Lone Tree is split across three districts, and plenty of properties outside town limits run on private wells. Where you are changes the conversation.

LOCAL WATER

What Makes Douglas County's Water Different

Douglas County covers district water, town water and private wells, often within a few miles of each other.

Groundwater and surface water are not interchangeable. Water that has spent centuries in an aquifer picks up dissolved minerals from the rock around it. Water collected at the surface behaves differently, generally softer, but carrying organic material that has to be disinfected. A house running mostly on one behaves differently than a house running mostly on the other, and the equipment that makes sense follows from that.

Which district you're on changes the answer. This isn't a technicality. Denver Water supply and Denver Basin groundwater behave differently in a house, and equipment appropriate for one may be oversized or beside the point for the other. Anyone quoting you a system based on "Lone Tree water" without establishing which district serves you hasn't done the work.

The town ends abruptly, and well country starts. Castle Rock is surrounded by unincorporated Douglas County, and a lot of properties just past the town limits are on private wells. Nobody monitors those but the owner. If you're on acreage outside the service boundary, your treatment conversation looks nothing like your neighbor's inside it.

FREQUENTLY ASKED

Common Questions About Water Treatment in Douglas County

Straight answers about water treatment in Douglas County, from the two people who run the company.

Do I need a water softener in Douglas County?

It depends on what you're seeing. Scale on fixtures, cloudy glassware, and soap that won't lather are the practical indicators. We'd rather talk through what you're actually noticing than sell you a softener because you live in Douglas County.

My house is brand new. Do I still need water treatment?

New plumbing doesn't change the water running through it. If your water is hard, it will scale a new water heater as readily as an old one, the difference is that you haven't been paying for it yet.

I'm on a private well. Can you help?

Yes. There's no utility monitoring a private well on your behalf, so a lab analysis is the starting point. Bring us those results and we'll walk you through what they mean and what equipment actually addresses them. It's a different conversation from town water, and we do both.

How do I know which system I need?

Tell us what you're noticing and where you live, and we'll walk you through the options. If a carbon filter solves your problem, we're not going to sell you a softener.
